Touch Ceramics is proud to present "Exquisite Mastery: Mika Sato Neriage Solo Exhibition" the highly anticipated solo exhibition of renowned ceramic artist Mika Sato, marking her second groundbreaking showcase in Hong Kong. This exhibition celebrates Sato's innovative integration of the art of neriage into the realm of aesthetic living.

 

Aesthetic living is born from our keen observations and creative interpretations of everyday life, serving as the foundation of happiness. Over two decades of artistic exploration, Mika Sato has relentlessly pushed the boundaries of Neriage techniques, delving into the nuanced interplay of light and shadow, harmonious colour compositions, and the unique textures of clay. Her works not only offer visual delight but also provoke profound reflections on the limitless potential of art.

 

Born in 1970 in Kanagawa, Japan, Sato displayed a fervent passion for ceramics from an early age. In 2006, she embarked on an in-depth study at Izumi Ceramic Academy, becoming the assistant to the distinguished Neriage master, Eiji Murofushi, the following year. With her exceptional craftsmanship, Sato seamlessly marries traditional ceramic techniques with contemporary aesthetics, creating pieces that embody translucence, lightness, and refreshing hues, showcasing her profound understanding of the clay materials and boundless creativity. Her inspiration draws from the graceful forms of nature and the delicate nuances of everyday objects, artfully infusing traditional Japanese elements to craft a cutting-edge, multi-sensory experience.
