Beyond Clay: The Extraordinary Power of Sculpture
2025.04.01 - 2025.04.20
In the realm of contemporary art, sculpture possesses a unique and profound power that compels us to reevaluate our reality, inviting us to reflect on life through a fresh lens and challenge deeply entrenched perceptions. The forms and textures of sculpture resonate with our innermost desires and fears, giving tangible shape to those ineffable emotions, allowing them to exist authentically before us.
It is often said that clay reflects the soul of the sculptor. In the creative process, artists engage in a direct and intimate dialogue with the pliable earth, manifesting dynamic textures and sensations in three dimensions to authentically express their inner emotions and thoughts.
In the upcoming ceramics sculpture exhibition this April, we are honored to present the works of seven ceramic artists from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Japan. Each artist brings a distinct style, uniquely interpreting the infinite possibilities of sculpture. Toshiya Masuda, Yu Tanaka, Sayaka Shingu and Sara Tse Suk Ting transcend conventional perceptions of materiality through their clay sculptures. By reimagining everyday objects, they evoke profound reflections on the beauty of the ordinary, rekindling the audience's connection to the details of life. Kunihiro Akinaga, in his pursuit of perfection, showcases exquisite craftsmanship in ceramic art, with each piece standing as a paragon of artistry, reflecting an infinite reverence for creation. Meanwhile, Chao Harn Kae and Liu Jung Hui imbue their works with reflections on humanity and the philosophy of life, inviting viewers not only to appreciate the art but also to contemplate their own existence and emotions.
We warmly invite you to this ceramics sculpture exhibition to explore the boundless possibilities created by these artists. We look forward to you experiencing the power and inspiration that sculpture can evoke on this journey of discovery.
